We celebrate World Health Day: Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures

Get in touch

Why do we celebrate World Health Day? World Health Day is observed every year on April 7th, marking the founding of the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1948. Its goal is to raise awareness about health’s importance and promote equal access to healthcare for everyone.

In 2025, the theme of World Health Day is: “Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures.” The focus is on the importance of health in the early stages of life – from pregnancy and birth to childhood and adolescence. WHO calls for shared responsibility in building the foundation for a healthier society, emphasizing supporting women and children.

This year’s campaign is also aimed at youth, especially students, promoting healthy habits, proper nutrition, regular physical activity, and sexual health awareness. Additionally, Croatia is implementing the national program “Živjeti zdravo” (“Living Healthy”), focused on the well-being of all age groups.

Health starts from within

Health is not just the absence of symptoms or diagnoses. Health means balance, energy, feeling secure in your body, and having space to grow – physically, mentally, and emotionally. It involves everyday habits, self-care, and small choices that make a big difference over time.

How to celebrate this day?

Doing something for yourself is the best way to mark World Health Day. It doesn’t have to be a treatment or check-up – it can be a walk, a meaningful conversation, more rest, or simply the decision to put yourself first finally.
