IMC Priora hosted a distinguished world expert, Prof. Ph.D. Christian Wetterauer, as part of its commitment to providing superior health care and introducing the most modern technologies in urology.

Prof. Ph.D. Wetterauer has an impressive background as Head of the Department of Urology at the University of Basel, where he specialized in applying robotic technology to diagnose and treat prostate cancer. His arrival at IMC Priora aimed to share professional knowledge and ensure further professional development of the Priora medical team.

Medical Director of IMC Priora, Tomislav Kalem MD, MSc, head of the Department of Urology, Urological Oncology and Robotic Urological Surgery, personally welcomed Professor Wetterauer. Dr. Kalem and his team have performed 49 robotic biopsies using the Mona Lisa Biobot system. During the professor’s Visit, six more procedures were performed under his supervision, confirming IMC Priora’s commitment to applying the latest technologies and methods in treatment.

The Urology Department of IMC Priora is known for introducing innovative procedures and technologies that significantly improve the quality of patient treatment. Mona Lisa Biobot, the system that is the central part of this Visit, is an example of this innovation. It is an advanced robotic technology for performing prostate biopsies with extreme precision and minimal invasiveness.

Mona Lisa Biobot is a robotic system that allows fusion biopsies of the prostate to be performed, combining magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound images in real-time. This technology allows the surgeon to be highly accurate in targeting suspicious lesions, thereby increasing the likelihood of a precise diagnosis and reducing the need for multiple tissue samples. The advantages of Mona Lisa Biobot compared to traditional methods include minimal risk to the patient, shorter recovery time, and more excellent reliability in detecting prostate cancer at an early stage.

Professor Wetterauer represents another step forward for IMC Priora in providing top medical care and continuous development of the team in cooperation with leading world experts.
